50-80 Shore EPDM O-Rings Steam Weather Ozone Resistant Seals for Water and Outdoor Use

EPDM O-rings supplied across a 50-80 Shore A hardness range so you can match the seal to the closure force and surface condition of the job. All grades keep EPDM's signature steam, weather, and ozone resistance for water and outdoor service where nitrile would crack and fail.

Material EPDM (Ethylene Propylene)
Hardness 50 / 60 / 70 / 80 Shore A
Temperature -50°C to +150°C
Color Black
Standards AS568, ISO 3601, DIN 3771
Sealed Media Steam, hot & cold water, weather, ozone, UV, dilute chemicals
Not Recommended Petroleum oils, fuel, grease, most hydrocarbons

Features

  • 50-80 Shore A range to tune seal force and compression
  • Resists saturated steam and hot water (peroxide-cured grades last longer)
  • Impervious to UV, ozone, and outdoor weathering
  • Stays flexible in cold for year-round outdoor use
  • Molded to standard sizes; cord cut to length for custom loops

Applications
Steam valves, water treatment and reverse-osmosis systems, HVAC panels, outdoor and electrical enclosures, marine compartments, door and hatch gaskets, and any water or weather-exposed seal.

FAQ

Q: What does the 50-80 Shore A range mean for my seal?
A: We stock EPDM across that span so hardness matches the application — 50-60 Shore A for light closing force or uneven faces, 70 as the general standard, and 80 for firmer seats and higher water pressure. Pick softer when the panel or door closes gently, harder when you need a tighter bite.

Q: Can EPDM handle steam?
A: Yes. Standard EPDM seals saturated steam and hot water well, with continuous service around +150°C. Specify peroxide-cured EPDM where steam and heat cycles are severe, since it ages better.

Q: What temperature range can it take?
A: -50°C to +150°C. It stays flexible in freezing weather and stable in sun and steam, so it seals through full seasonal and process swings.

Q: Is it good for outdoor and ozone exposure?
A: Yes. EPDM resists UV, ozone, and weathering and will not crack outdoors the way nitrile does, which is why it is the default for exterior and enclosure seals.

Q: Can EPDM be used with oil or fuel?
A: No. EPDM is not compatible with petroleum oils, fuel, or most hydrocarbons. For oily or fuel-exposed service use NBR or FKM instead.
