Hammer Union Seal are used in the connections between flexible hoses or pipes used in the oil drilling industry. The seal provides a critical fluid tight connection within the union hardware.
Hammer Union consists of a thread end, a nut end, and a hammer nut that when tightened seal the assembly with the assistance of an elastomeric seal. The seal is lipped to prevent it from falling out when inverted.

Custom Hammer Union Seal Orders: Define a Drawing and Duty for Every Line Size
For a custom hammer union seal order covering different pipe sizes, prepare a separate specification for each mating connection. Include the union figure, nominal size, seal profile, seating dimensions and support ring arrangement. The rubber seal dimensions must come from the approved connection drawing rather than the nominal pipe size alone.
For OEM or ODM development, agree which features may be customized and which mating dimensions must remain fixed. Specify the NBR, HNBR or FKM compound, hardness, color identification and any brass or stainless ring requirement against the actual fluid and temperature duty. PTFE requires separate profile and support design review. A change of compound or support structure needs its own fit and service assessment.
Approve the sample against the agreed drawing revision and inspection requirements before repeat production. Keep the connection figure, compound and drawing reference on the packing identification for each size. ISO 9001 quality management supports production control; the union assembly pressure rating, sour-service qualification and any API requirement need their respective supporting documents.
