Product Introduction
Hammer Union Seals are used in the connections between flexible hoses or pipes used in the oil drilling industry. The seal provides a critical fluid tight connection within the union hardware.
Hammer Unions consist of a thread end, a nut end, and a hammer nut that when tightened seal the assembly with the assistance of an elastomeric seal. The seal is lipped to prevent it from falling out when inverted.
Material Introduction
NBR, HNBR and FKM are rubber compound alternatives. PTFE is a thermoplastic needing separate profile and support review. Compare the selected grade with the specified fluid and operating exposure.

Red and Black Figure 602, 1002 and 1502 Seals: Keep Colour and Part Identity Together
For red or black hammer union seal orders, identify each part by Figure number, nominal union size and approved seal drawing. Colour may help sorting, but it cannot establish compound identity or interchangeability. Figure 602, 1002 and 1502 enquiries require individual fit confirmation for the specified mating hardware.
Provide separate quantities and colour references for each 1 to 4 inch nominal connection size. Specify NBR, HNBR or FKM with the required fluid and temperature data, and identify any brass or stainless support ring. PTFE is a thermoplastic option requiring its own design and hardness-scale review; the rubber specifications cannot be applied to it automatically.
Agree any marking, serial identification and packing labels with the quotation so different figures and compounds remain identifiable. Include pressure cycles, temperature peaks and inspection requirements. Pressure suitability follows the complete documented union assembly; appearance and a broad material list do not establish a verified rating.
