Custom NBR / Buna-N Nitrile Hammer Union Replacement Seal
Product Introduction
Hammer Union Seals are used in the connections between flexible hoses or pipes used in the oil drilling industry. The seal provides a critical fluid tight connection within the union hardware.
Hammer Unions consist of a thread end, a nut end, and a hammer nut that when tightened seal the assembly with the assistance of an elastomeric seal. The seal is lipped to prevent it from falling out when inverted.
Material Introduction
NBR, HNBR and FKM are rubber compound alternatives. PTFE is a thermoplastic needing separate profile and support review. Compare the selected grade with the specified fluid and operating exposure.

NBR / Buna-N Hammer Union Seals: Review Oil Exposure and Temperature Together
NBR, nitrile and Buna-N describe the same polymer family for this replacement seal enquiry. The listed rubber hardness is 85 Shore A; confirm the compound specification and hardness tolerance for the order. Match the seal profile and any brass or stainless support ring to the specified union Figure and mating drawing.
Temperature suitability depends on the exact NBR compound, oil formulation, additives and exposure duration. Provide normal running temperature, brief peaks, cold start-up conditions and cleaning fluids. The broad temperature limits associated with PTFE cannot be applied to NBR rubber. A high-temperature application requires compound-specific data rather than the polymer name alone.
For nominal 1 to 7 inch enquiries, list each union size, Figure, seal dimensions and quantity separately. Include operating pressure cycles and assembly rating, inspection tolerances and sample requirements. Custom colour or marking may aid identification but does not establish service qualification.
