2, 3 and 4 Inch Hammer Union Lip Seals with Brass or Stainless-Steel Backup

Hammer union lip seals with a specified metal backup are selected for the matching pipe or hose union. For 2, 3 or 4 inch nominal connections, provide the union figure, hardware manufacturer and seal-seat dimensions. The nominal connection size is not the seal inner or outer diameter.

Lip profiles and O-ring arrangements vary with union figure and size. Confirm the drawing and backup-ring geometry for the exact hardware before specifying a replacement.
NBR, FKM and HNBR are separate elastomer choices. Brass and stainless-steel backup options require the specified grade, dimensions and construction. For sour-gas service, provide fluid composition and qualification requirements; neither polymer choice nor a metal backup alone establishes service approval.

Selection and installation considerations:

Installation fit: Check the lip profile, backup orientation and seal seat against the matching union instructions. Isolate and depressurize the line before replacement.
Leakage testing: Verify the assembled union using the specified test procedure. The replacement seal alone does not establish a pressure rating or guarantee leak-free performance.
Material selection:Specify elastomer grade, hardness and metal-backup material for the contacted fluid, temperature and pressure cycles. Inspect the seat and backup for damage when replacing the seal.
Replacement specification:Include the union figure, nominal size, seal drawing and backup material with the enquiry so the required construction can be identified.
For maintenance replacements, compare the removed seal and hardware with the approved drawing. Similar ring dimensions do not establish interchangeability between union figures.
