Application

NBR nitrile hammer union seal rings are replacement sealing elements for compatible hose and pipe union connections used in oil-drilling equipment. Specify the nominal connection size, union figure and original seal drawing so that each ring matches its intended groove.

Product Description

A hammer union comprises of a thread end, a nut end and a hammer nut which, when cinched up, compresses a composite seal assembly thereby preventing leakage.

The seal assembly comprises a metal insert of a size to pass into the seal groove of conventional hammer unions and a small seal acting between the insert, the thread end and the nut end.

The small seal is conveniently an O-ring or a Hammer Union Seal (Lip Seal) and is of a size that is compressed when the seal assembly is inserted into the thread end of the hammer union.

A hammer union is the complete metal connection; the seal is its replaceable sealing element. Confirm the manufacturer drawing and groove for each connection.

Figure references 602, 1002, 1502, 2002 and 2202 require their own seal drawing and service review.

Material:

For a custom-size union seal, select one compound and hardness per drawing. NBR, nitrile and Buna-N identify the same polymer family; HNBR/HSN, FKM and PU are separate options. PTFE is a separate thermoplastic choice requiring its own design review.

For Figure 1502 enquiries, confirm the complete union manufacturer rating and applicable proof-test documentation. A replacement seal has no independent assembly pressure rating.

Industrial Union Seal Supply: Define Inspection Documents Alongside the Drawing

For an industrial high-pressure pipe connection, identify the union manufacturer, figure, nominal size and seal part number. Provide the lip-section drawing and any brass or stainless support details. The seal is a replacement component; the complete union assembly establishes the connection rating.

Specify the required inspection documents with the order, including dimensional results, material identification and any agreed batch records. ISO 9001 relates to the quality management system and does not establish a product pressure rating or API certification. Certificates of origin and conformity documents are defined by the agreed shipment and order requirements.

State the selected compound, hardness, fluid composition, temperature and pressure-cycle conditions before sample approval. Agree drawing revision, acceptance criteria, packaging and quantity per part. Sour-service, decompression or other special qualification needs the exact compound and relevant test requirements.
