Product Description

A hammer union comprises of a thread end, a nut end and a hammer nut which, when cinched up, compresses a composite seal assembly thereby preventing leakage. The seal assembly comprises a metal insert of a size to pass into the seal groove of conventional hammer unions and a small seal acting between the insert, the thread end and the nut end. The small seal is conveniently an O-ring or a Hammer Union Seal (Lip Seal) and is of a size that is compressed when the seal assembly is inserted into the thread end of the hammer union.

4-Inch Figure 1502 NBR Orders: Confirm the Support Construction and Compound

Provide the 4-inch nominal union maker reference and original seal drawing. Confirm actual seal diameters, height and lip section independently from the connection size. Specify rubber-only, brass-backed or stainless-backed construction to match the original groove and support arrangement.

For oilfield service, identify the oil or drilling-fluid formulation, additives, cleaning agents and temperature cycle. Select the NBR compound for that duty and agree its hardness value, Shore scale and tolerance. The broader material and size range does not establish the specification of this 4-inch part.
