NBR Nitrile 70 Shore A O-Rings for Soft Seal Low Pressure Connections

NBR (Buna-N) O-rings at 70 Shore A built for soft-seal, low-pressure connections. The flexible nitrile grade conforms to imperfect or irregular faces and seals with light clamp force, so it works on plumbing, pneumatic, instrument, and low-pressure hydraulic joints where a firmer compound would need more torque to seat.

Material NBR (Nitrile / Buna-N)
Hardness 70 Shore A
Temperature -35°C to +120°C
Color Black
Standards AS568, ISO 3601, DIN 3771
Sealed Media Water, air, mineral oil, diesel, gasoline, glycol
Not Recommended Ozone, H2S, ketones, esters, aromatic hydrocarbons (long term)

Features

  • 70 Shore A conforms to irregular faces for a soft seal
  • Seals with low clamp force — easy on light-torque joints
  • Resists oil, water, fuel, and abrasion at low cost
  • Low friction for easy assembly and disassembly
  • Stocked to AS568, ISO 3601, and DIN 3771

Applications
Plumbing and hose couplings, pneumatic fittings, instrumentation connections, compressor and low-pressure hydraulic joints, water and air lines, and any static low-pressure seal where the mating face is not perfectly flat.

FAQ

Q: What is a "soft seal" and why 70 Shore A?
A: A soft seal conforms to the mating face under light clamp force, so it seals irregular or imperfect surfaces without high bolt torque. 70 Shore A is the flexible nitrile grade that does this; 90 Shore A is firmer and needs more squeeze to seat.

Q: What pressure is 70 Shore A NBR suited to?
A: Low to moderate-pressure static connections — plumbing, pneumatic, instrument, and low-pressure hydraulic lines. For high-pressure glands, step up to 90 Shore A with anti-extrusion back-up rings.

Q: Why not use 90 durometer here?
A: 90 is harder and resists extrusion, but it needs more compression to seal. On light-torque or delicate connections it can leak or overstress the joint. 70 seals with less force and follows the surface.

Q: What fluids can it handle?
A: Water, air, mineral oil, diesel, gasoline, and glycol-based fluids. It is not for ozone, H2S, ketones, esters, or prolonged aromatic-hydrocarbon exposure.

Q: Where are these typically used?
A: Plumbing and hose couplings, pneumatic fittings, instrumentation, compressor and low-pressure hydraulic connections, and water or air lines where a conformable static seal is needed.
