All-Rubber and Heavy-Duty Packer Cup Options for Oilfield Tools

Standard packer cups types:

Wire packer cups:Wire-reinforced cups form directional seals. Specify lip orientation, insert and reinforcement geometry, actual bore and the required pressure direction. Single, dual or multiple-cup arrangements must match the tool drawing.

Heavy-duty packer cups:Heavy-duty packer cups may use a double-basket reinforcement design for repeated movement such as well washing. Specify reinforcement, metal treatment and working conditions. These reinforced units are a separate construction from an all-rubber cup and need their own assembly specification.

All-rubber packer cups:All-rubber cups have no wire reinforcement in the cup body. Select compound and lip geometry for fluid exposure, movement and wear requirements. Identify any separate mounting insert, and specify abrasion-test requirements where needed rather than assuming a universal wear-life rating.

Threaded packer cups:Threaded cups connect through a specified insert. Provide thread form, size and engagement. Steam exposure requires compound-specific temperature and pressure review; suitability for high-pressure washing must not be assumed.

Nominal application sizes from 1-1/4-inch tubing through 7-inch casing and custom sizes require drawing review. State actual bore diameter, finished cup dimensions and mounting details for the selected construction.

Features of the rubber oil packer cups:

1) Specify differential pressure and service temperature for the chosen compound and assembly.

2) Identify all-rubber or reinforced heavy-duty construction on the order drawing.

3) Nominal size ranges require confirmation against actual tool and bore dimensions.

4) A requested 150°C (302°F) pressure test needs an agreed fixture, compound and acceptance limits.

5) A 30-cycle requirement needs defined loading and temperature conditions.

6) Large cups, including a requested 30-inch size, require design and manufacturing confirmation.

All-rubber and reinforced heavy-duty packer cups address different tool requirements. For repeated movement, provide stroke conditions, fluid solids, bore condition and permitted wear. Select reinforcement and compound together; neither a heavy-duty label nor rubber hardness alone establishes the working pressure or service life.

Custom packer cups are sealing components for a specified oilfield tool. Confirm cup construction, lip geometry, mounting interface and compound from the approved drawing or sample. Drillability and zonal-isolation performance depend on the complete tool assembly and require separate confirmation.

Selecting All-Rubber or Reinforced Heavy-Duty Cups

Specify whether the cup body is all-rubber or contains wire or basket reinforcement. Include mounting hardware and inserts in the drawing so that the supplied scope is clear. The two constructions should not be treated as interchangeable replacement units.

For abrasive or repeated-movement service, provide fluid solids, stroke length and speed, pressure direction and mating bore finish. Agree wear inspection and test requirements for the selected compound and cup geometry.

Send the tool drawing or sample, actual bore dimensions, service temperature and differential pressure. A requested 220°C exposure requires compound-specific review and testing; it is not a general temperature rating for HNBR or NBR cups.
