Industrial Hammer Union Replacement Seals with Specified Metal Support

Product Description

A hammer union comprises of a thread end, a nut end and a hammer nut which, when cinched up, compresses a composite seal assembly thereby preventing leakage.

The seal assembly comprises a metal insert of a size to pass into the seal groove of conventional hammer unions and a small seal acting between the insert, the thread end and the nut end.

The small seal is conveniently an O-ring or a Hammer Union Seal (Lip Seal) and is of a size that is compressed when the seal assembly is inserted into the thread end of the hammer union.

A hammer union is the complete metal connection; the seal is its replaceable sealing element. Confirm the manufacturer drawing and groove for each connection.

NBR nitrile hammer union seal rings are replacement sealing elements for compatible hose and pipe union connections used in oil-drilling equipment. Specify the nominal connection size, union figure and original seal drawing so that each ring matches its intended groove.

Material:

For a custom-size union seal, select one compound and hardness per drawing. NBR, nitrile and Buna-N identify the same polymer family; HNBR/HSN, FKM and PU are separate options. PTFE is a separate thermoplastic choice requiring its own design review.

For Figure 1502 enquiries, confirm the complete union manufacturer rating and applicable proof-test documentation. A replacement seal has no independent assembly pressure rating.

Hydraulic Union Lip Seal Enquiries: Define Static Connection Duty

The existing product information describes a hammer union replacement seal. If the enquiry uses the term hydraulic lip seal, identify whether it refers to this union connection or a moving cylinder rod or piston seal. These applications require different section drawings and must not be assumed equivalent.

For the union connection, send the manufacturer figure, nominal size, seal profile and any metal support details. Provide the hydraulic-fluid formulation, additives, normal and peak temperatures and pressure cycle for compound review. Confirm the complete union rating from its manufacturer documentation.

Specify one material grade and hardness per drawing, with dimensional and sample-fit acceptance criteria. ISO 9001 refers to the quality management system and does not approve a seal for a stated pressure range. Any special gas, decompression or qualification requirement must be defined for the selected compound and application.
